Including Children In Your Wedding
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of including your children in your wedding ceremony. Including them helps make the transition of the new relationship easier to deal with. Put in as many loving touches as possible for them. Let them know that they too belong to this new union. But please remember, they are children, and do make mistakes sometimes. Don't let that ruin your special day. It is also their's.
Here are a few suggestions:
* Instead of having a sand ceremony or unity candle, you may say vows to your child/children and present them with a small gift
* Ring bearer/flower girl-age 4-7
* Give bride to groom- age 3 & up( Child/Children can walk Mom down the isle!)
* Participate in a Sand Ceremony or Rose Ceremony- age 5 & up
* Parents can say vows to children during the ceremony and present them with a ring,necklace or
small token of some kind along with a hug and I love you. age 8 & up
* Instead of having a "marriage certificate" you can have a "family marriage certificate." They can actually sign their name as well as bride and groom. age 7 & up
* Junior bridesmaids
* Junior ushers
